Culture Shock!!!!

I never thought I would do something like this but I went to go see Phantom of the Opera, yes I sometimes even shock myself. Since the music is completely different to the music I usually listen I was very sceptical about the idea, I was convinced I threw away a lot of money.
Try everything(well most things) once they say... so I decided I would do an experiment to find out how much culture I have hidden inside me.
That evening I went the whole nine yards, dressed up to look all high class and important. I was bracing myself for the worst but decided I will keep an open mind and try to enjoy the experience. The first act started and... my attitude changed within the first couple of minutes. I found myself forgetting about every day life and get caught up in the story of the play, trying my best to follow what was going on. I was constantly amazed by the special effects on stage, it was like watching a movie. All and all I have to say that I enjoyed the experience, given another chance to go watch anther play I would definitely go.
One bit of critique was the voice of the lady that played Carlotta, ladies and gentlemen please pack away your glass valuables because she would be able to destroy them. Luckily she only sang short pieces so it was bearable.
The lady singing the role of Christine DaaƩ had a real beautiful voice and made it worth it in the end. The music in the play is very catchy and the theme stays with you for a long time. My favourite being "Music of the night".
So in the end I ended up buying another two tickets, I am sure my parents will enjoy it, and it will go a long way to defuse the tention at home. I am convinced it is money well spent.
Definitely my thumbs up for phantom of the opera.
