Change... Fear it ...embrace it ?

Why do people fear change so much?

The one constant thing in life: You can be certain there will be change.

People always complain about the current situation and wish that things will change and become better. But if there are any changes they get nervous and wish the good old days back. So what is it going to be? Change and hope for the best, or being stuck in the current situation...wishing for a better tomorrow?

Mostly if you are in survival mode you get stuck in a tunnel vision and the bigger picture eludes you. You spend all your energy on survival... To get to the part about realising the bigger picture is like being aware of the Matrix... (In the case of Neo).

So now you are aware of the bigger picture. You can enjoy the changes without getting paranoid. So how are you going to use that to your advantage? Are you going to make some life changing choices? or are you maybe waiting for this or that to change before you can make the changes?

There is a saying that goes something like "Today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday, was it worth all the worries?"

Personally in my life I realised I was stuck... I hated my job (well at least all the politics and policies surrounding it) and some other things were not working for me either, I was uncertain about the future, would I get a job again? The unemployment rate is 33% in South Africa. And yet still Americans complain about a 5% unemployment rate. Catch a wake up call! Appreciate what you have... or else you might just loose it.

To cut a long story short. I quit my job, started doing contract work. Yes there were some tough times, people stab you in the back and break promises. I feel sorry for them, they were born without a spine. Maybe at some stage they will realise something and grow up.
This far it turned out to be a good decision. I am enjoying work, it has so much less BS to deal with. If you watched IRobot... I think I am also allergic to BS.
I recently moved out of the house, bought a different car. To top it all I also got rid of my long hair... I even considered buying a house this week... it was already sold... So that will have to wait for now. Next year is still a big unknown... but who cares? Should I? ;) One thing though, success does not depend on what you know, yes knowledge helps, but life is about people and relationships. If you don't do those well... may I suggest you start there.

Yes the change was scary, but if I look back I can certainly say that is was for the best, all in all I moved forward. Go read Psalm 37:5... if you still feel uncertain.
